About Positech Design
At Positech Design we are passionate about guitars and bass guitars and we develop and bring dedicated, high-quality tools & parts to the market.
Mid 2024 the Positech Design® brand was founded alongside the design process of the LTwist® neck torsion gauge. The term "positech design" refers to the aim of a product or system to create a positive effect and satisfaction for the user by maximizing user friendliness, efficiency, life cycle, and aesthetics.
In its ultimate shape, building a guitar is a form of art. This is why we carefully define our product range to meet the demands of professional luthiers, guitar techs, and true "aficionado's". Our portfolio is still limited but more interesting products are in the pipeline. So watch this space!
We provide not just tools, but also support you how to make optimal use of them. Examples are the detailed user manual and step-by-step tutorial for the LTwist neck torsion gauge. We are also aware that we depend on you as expert users to establish best-usage practices for our tools. So we invite you to give constructive feedback whenever this suits you.
We don't hide behind the usual fences of customer service departments and impersonal contact channels. If you wish, you can reach us directly and personally with questions, advise requests and feedback.
About the LTwist® gauge and myself
My name is Peter Niessen, creator/developer of the LTwist® neck torsion gauge and founder of the Positech Design® brand. I believe that as a luthier, guitar tech, seller or buyer, you want to know the longitudinal torsion (twist) of your (bass) guitar neck as this can significantly affect playability, quality and value of your instrument.
I'm an experienced bass player and technical allrounder, and often wondered how to exactly measure and quantify the amount of neck torsion. Also part of my quest was how measured values relate to (potential) corrective measures. So at what point can you expect setting up issues and what can be done about it?
As a start, I clearly defined the measuring principles. Following that, I created the initial working model of the LTwist gauge end 2023, a so-called "proof of concept". When I presented this to a few intimate professional technicians and guitarists, the proverbial heat was on. The concept progressed to an improved working model with a digital unit and, with the expertise of a precision instrument maker, the mechanical unit was transformed to a vernier caliper type construction.
Then progress accelerated and after extensive user tests the final production version of the LTwist gauge was born, including a digital unit with bluetooth functionality and the option to validate, document and share the measured results.
So here we are, proudly presenting the LTwist® gauge under the Positech Design® flag. For the first time in history, you can precisely measure the amount of neck torsion of your (bass) guitar yourself!
